Residents of Costa Mesa, California, planted United states flags at a local senior high school after a teacher accused of disrespecting the flag was canned.
On Monday, the Back Bay & Monte Vista High School announced it had dismissed a teacher who submitted videos to social media claiming she was having learners pledge allegiance to an LGBT flag.
“ We are aware that one of our own teachers posted a video on their personal social media that caused alarm and concern associated with saluting the American flag, ” the district stated in a statement.

“ Displaying respect for our nation’s flag is an important value that we instill in our students and a good expectation of our employees. The particular teacher is no longer in the classroom. ”
The particular 11-grade Back Bay Senior high school teacher, Kristin Pitzen, had posted a video in order to TikTok from inside her class room claiming she removed an American flag because it made the girl feel uncomfortable, then claimed she encouraged a child in order to pledge allegiance to a pride flag.
It went viral after it was featured on a Twitter accounts dubbed “ Libs of Tik Tok. ”
In another video clip, Pitzen brags about purchasing numerous pride flags for her classroom, and says, “ I pledge allegiance towards the queers. ”
Los Angeles Times affiliate Daily Pilot reports parents gathered on the school Monday and posted small American flags around the campus sign.

Many called for the girl firing while others doubted any action would be taken because of the influence of teachers unions. Others criticized the district for describing the posting as “ personal” since it was filmed in a classroom on a public school campus.
Meanwhile, parents and others in the local school community rallied on the Costa Mesa campus where Pitzen had been teaching. On Monday afternoon, a cluster of small American red flags — and two rainbow-colored pride flags — had been placed around the school’s monument sign.
