Video: Johnny Depp Calls For People To “Stand Up” Against Terminate Culture
“It’s so far out of hand now that I could promise you that no one is safe. ”
Film superstar Johnny Depp slammed cancel culture this week, urging people to “ stand up” against those who seek to destroy the lives of others having an “ instant rush to judgement”.
Speaking at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Depp said “ It can be viewed as an event in history that survived for however long it lasted for, this cancel culture, or this immediate rush to judgement depending on essentially what amounts in order to polluted air that’s exhaled. ”
The Pirates Of The Caribbean celebrity continued, “ It’s so far out of hand now that I can guarantee you that no one is safe. Not one of you. Not anyone out that door. No one is safe. ”
“ As long as somebody is willing, it takes a single sentence and there’s no more ground, the carpet’s continues to be pulled, ” Depp urged.
Apparently talking about his recent libel situation against reporters for labelling him a ‘ spouse beater’, Depp stated “ It’s not just me that this has happened to, it might be happened to a lot of people. This kind of thing has happened in order to women, men, children who’ve suffered from various types of unpleasantries, unfortunately at a certain point they start to think that it’s normal. Or that it’s them. When it’s not really. ”
Depp urged “ It doesn’t matter if the judgement, per se, has taken several artistic license. When there’s an injustice, whether it’s towards you or someone you like, or someone you believe within – stand up, don’t sit back. Don’t sit down on ’em, cause they need you. ”
