A minimum of 8 Dead, 300 Injured After Mysterious ‘Mass Casualty Incident’ At Travis Scott Concert

Someone in the crowd went crazy and began injecting people with some sort of drug, which caused panic and then a surge, a source connected to Astroworld told TMZ.

Update (1230ET): In a very strange turn associated with events,   TMZ is reporting   that the frenzy could have been the targeted attack:

A source connected to Astroworld tells TMZ,   someone in the masses went crazy and started injecting people with some sort of drug, which caused panic and a surge .

The source says authorities are  trying to see whether those who went into cardiac police arrest were the ones injected . We’re told one of those that died is a 10-year-old.

The source says it appears to be a targeted assault.

We have not confirmed this survey, but the source is a important person involved in the festival.

As Tom Ozimek detailed earlier for your Epoch Times , police officials said  at least eight people were murdered and many others injured in a crush when fans surged toward the stage at the Astroworld music festival in Houston on Nov. 5 while rapper Travis Scott had been performing.

“ This is a tragic night, ” Houston Open fire Chief Samuel Peñ a told a news conference outside NRG Park, the event venue.

“ Eight confirmed deaths , and we had quite a few individuals that were injured, ” he added, describing what occurred as   a “ mass injury incident. ”

Around fifty, 000 fans were in attendance at the festival, Peñ a said, when in around 9 p. m.   “ the crowd began to compress towards the front of the phase, and that caused some stress, and it started causing a few injuries. ”

“ People began to fall out, become unconscious, and yes it created additional panic, ”   this individual said, adding that crisis response teams transported seventeen people to area hospitals,   with 11 from the victims in cardiac detain.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said that some of those taken to hospital were as young as 10 years old.

“ Tonight’s focus … needs to be on the families and on the lives that we dropped, ” Hidalgo said. “ Many of them extremely young, unfortunately young. ”

Our minds are broken.   People go to these activities looking for a good time, an opportunity to unwind, to make memories, ” Hidalgo said. “ It’s not the kind of event you go to to find out about fatalities. ”

The open fire chief said the cause of demise of the 8 deceased will not be officially known until the healthcare examiner has completed a study.

Houston Police Executive Assistant Key Larry Satterwhite who was near the front of the crowd plus told reporters at the press conference that  the surge happened suddenly plus played out over the program “ of just a few moments. ”

“ All of a sudden we had several people down on the ground, experiencing some type of heart arrest or some type of medical episode, ”   Satterwhite said.

“ And so we instantly started doing CPR, and moving people right after that, and that’s when I went and met with the promoters, plus Live Nation, and they agreed to end early in the attention of public safety. ”

The fire chief said that the event organizers had a “ medical component” on hand to deal with emergencies, but “ they were rapidly overwhelmed when the crowd began falling out. ”

Over 300 people were treated at an emergency industry hospital set up at the place,   Peñ the said, with over 55 Houston Fire Department products later stepping in to offer assistance.

The show was canceled shortly after the incident, and the Houston Office of Emergency Management later announced that the Astroworld event had been canceled pertaining to Saturday.

“ Please keep the eight victims and the hundreds hurt in your thoughts and prayers, ” the agency  wrote in a tweet .

Houston Law enforcement Chief Troy Finner mentioned “ it’s very important that none of us speculate” about what triggered the surge and to permit investigators to complete their function.

“ Nobody has all of the answers tonight, ”   he said.   “ We just don’t know. And we will find out. So , pray for the families. ”
