Watch: Beto O’Rourke Stands Simply by ‘We’re Gonna Take your AR-15, Your AK-47’ Remark

Democrat candidate says mandatory weapon buybacks still on the table in case he’s elected Texas chief excutive.

Democrat Texas gubernatorial applicant Beto O’Rourke on Sunday doubled down on his controversial 2019 comment  that “ we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47. ”

In an interview along with CNN’s “ State of the Union” host Dana Bash, O’Rourke reiterated his significant stance against firearms and the Second Amendment.

“ Look, we are a state that has a long, proud tradition of responsible gun possession. And most of us here in Tx do not want to see our buddies, our family members, our neighbours shot up with these weapons associated with war. So yes, I actually still hold this view, ” O’Rourke said.

O’Rourke claimed that Texas residents are alarmed by constitutional carry expenses signed by Gov. Greg Abbott (R) over the summer time.

“ We don’t want extremism within our gun laws. We want to safeguard the Second Amendment, we want to secure the lives of our fellow Texans, ” he mentioned.

“ And I know that when we get together and stop this divisive extremism that we see from Greg Abbott right now, we’re going to have the ability to do that. ”

While running for Senate in 2019, O’Rourke called for the federal government to implement a mandatory gun buyback program regarding “ assault-style” weapons.

“ Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, ” he told a crowd at the time. “ Jooxie is not going to allow it to be used towards our fellow Americans any more. ”

He went on to lose the Senate race against Ted Jones (R).
