More than 50 people died when a tractor-trailer loaded with at least 150 migrants crashed in southern Mexico yesterday, according to reports.
The horrifying accident unfolded upon Thursday in Tuxtla Gutié rrez, a city within Chiapas state.
A consignments truck carrying between one hundred sixty and 200 migrants in the trailer, many of whom hailed from Guatemala, crashed right into a pedestrian bridge, killing a bunch and maiming many more.

“ The Mexican Lawyer General’s office said it will investigate the incident, which state officials in Chiapas said had claimed the lives of 54 individuals and injured 58 others, ” Reuters reports .
“ Government bodies identified 95 Guatemalans among the people caught up in the accident, as well as three people in the Dominican Republic, a Honduran, a Mexican and an Ecuadorean. ”
Witnesses say the driver failed to properly bargain a turn and slammed into the bridge.
Bodies had been reportedly ejected from the automobile during the crash, and many survivors fled the scene, including the driver of the truck.
