Exxon Bans Outside Flags Through Being Flown on Business Flagpoles

Exxon Mobil is drawing a range when it comes to displaying flags associated with outside organizations on corporation property.
It’s a decision that will comes as Disney continues to grapple with the state of Fl about being outspoken on cultural issues instead of just… well, focusing on running its business.
Exxon’s decision is a completely realistic move that the company is well within its legal rights to do, so naturally they have drawn the ire associated with “ some employees exactly who in the past had flown the rainbow pride flag”, the particular NY Times documented this weekend.
The company’s policy now allows only “ government flags and the ones representing Exxon Mobil and it is employee resource groups”, the particular report says. If employees want to display Black Lifestyles Matter or pride flags, they will have to do so on other areas of company properties than on their flagpoles.
Other flags can be flown “ on lawns or in digital spaces”, the particular report says.
Tracey Gunnlaugsson, vice president of human resources on Exxon Mobil, said: “ It is a longstanding practice at our facilities all over the world that E. R. G. flags can be flown throughout signature months. The red flags are directly related to our own business and company assistance of our E. R. G. s. ”
Meanwhile, a logo for your company’s employee resource team for L. G. B. T. employees has been flown at offices and is used on t-shirts that employees wear to Pride parades. A single former employee who utilized to head the resource team told the Ny Times that the corporation used to fly a different pride flag “ at numerous company locations last year with no question”.
He said approval of this flag was pulled “ without explanation”. He furthermore told the NYT: “ I’m also told that the employee resource groups were consulted only in the perfunctory way regarding this particular matter, based on momentary discomfort with displaying a symbol associated with open-mindedness and support designed for long-suppressed voices. ”
He continued: “ While they may say nobody has lost everything, the symbolism is unique. ”
