Joe Biden’s press admin Jen Psaki lobbed a veiled warning directed at Tweets and its new owner Elon Musk, claiming the Biden administration has long been “ concerned” about the “ harm” brought on by “ large social media systems. ”
Reuters reporter Andrea Shalal inquired Psaki during a Monday press briefing: “ Are you worried about purveyors of election misinformation, disinformation, health falsehoods having more of an opportunity to speak right now there on Twitter? Is there any message that you would communicate to Elon Musk? ”
Psaki responded that tech platforms “ must be held accountable for the particular harms they cause. ”
PSAKI: “No matter who owns or even runs Twitter, the chief executive has long been concerned about the power associated with large social media platforms, the power they have over our daily lives. He’s long argued that tech platforms should be held accountable for the causes harm to they cause. ” pic. twitter. com/9KTSrBYiSM

“ No matter who owns or runs Twitter, the president has long been concerned about the power of large social media platforms, the power they have more than our everyday lives, ” Psaki said. “ He’s long argued that tech platforms must be held responsible for the harms they result in. ”
“ Our concerns are not new. We’ve long talked about and the President has long talked about his concerns about the energy of social platforms, which includes Twitter to spread misinformation, disinformation, the need for [them] to be held responsible. ”
Psaki went on to say that Biden’s team would review Area 230 protections, which allows Big Tech to moderate and censor content online.
“ He’s already been a strong supporter of basic reforms to achieve that goal, which includes reforms to Section 230, enacting antitrust reforms, requiring more transparency, and he’s encouraged that there’s bipartisan interest in Congress. ”
Psaki’s remarks represent a dramatic about-face by the Biden administration, who previously defended Section 230 when former President Trump sued Tweets for deplatforming him in 2021.
Of course , now that a billionaire that doesn’t subscribe to their woke groupthink is now in charge of Twitter, Biden and the left are suddenly eager to rein in its influence.
In fact, where was the Biden management when Twitter and other Large Tech platforms censored the true story associated with Hunter Biden’s laptop weeks before the 2020 presidential election?
That’s right, it defended the particular blanket censorship, falsely claiming the Hunter Biden laptop story has been “ Russian disinformation. ”
He didn’t mind whenever Twitter was suspending balances like mine for posting legitimate reporting from NYP on his son. https://t.co/Cs7KZgOU9J
