Henry Kissinger has said how the West should stop trying to inflict a crushing defeat on Russia and recommended that Ukraine should provide upterritory.
Former US secretary of state Mr Kissinger, 98, told the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Swiss that Ukraine must begin negotiations ‘ before it creates upheavals and tensions that wont be easily overcome’.

‘ Ideally, the dividing line should be a return to the status quo ante. Pursuing the battle beyond that point would not become about the freedom of Ukraine, but a new war towards Russia itself, ‘ he or she told the conference upon Monday.
It came because Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a powerful conversation to open this week’s Davos summit in Switzerland that will brute force will once more rule the world if Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is certainly allowed to go unanswered.
He told delegates that their summit can become pointless if Putin is definitely allowed to win the battle because he is ‘ not interested in our thoughts’ and ‘ brute force… does not talk, it kills. ‘
But Mister Kissinger said it would be ‘ fatal’ for the West to obtain swept up in the ‘ feeling of the moment’ and forget about Russia’s position of strength within Europe.
According to The Telegraph , he described that Russia was a good ‘ essential part of Europe’ for over four centuries, noting that European leaders should ‘ not lose sight of the longer term relationship’ or otherwise risk putting Russia in the permanent alliance with The far east.
He furthermore said: ‘ I hope the Ukrainians will match the particular heroism they have shown along with wisdom. ‘
