Nearly a year ago, previous New York Times Journalist Alex Berenson was permanently banned from Twitter for writing the following lines about the Covid shot: “ It doesn’t cease infection. Or transmission. Do not think of it as a vaccine. Think of it – at best – as a therapeutic with a limited window of efficacy plus terrible side effect profile that must be dosed IN ADVANCE OF ILLNESS. And want to mandate it? Madness. ”
From the beginning of the Covid hysteria, we followed and mentioned Berenson many times on the Ron Paul Liberty Report. Berenson took government and mainstream media rhetoric about the pandemic the way journalists used to bring it: with a heavy dose of skepticism. And not long after this individual was banned for stating so , even the CDC Movie director admitted what he published is true.
Yet at the time, he was a danger to the government narrative upon Covid, and the “ private” social media company Twitter silenced him. They did not just silence one reporter who was a thorn in their part, however. They preemptively silenced anyone else who might may question the narrative. The particular message was clear to any or all the would-be Alex Berensons out there: do you want to follow your pet to the digital gulag?
So not only had been Berenson’s free speech below attack – free conversation itself was under attack.
Many, especially libertarians, might respond that Twitter as a private business has the right to do business with anybody they wish. That is real, but only to the degree that Twitter is actually performing as a private entity. The actual question is to what degree has Twitter and the various other social media companies been directly doing the bidding of government?
After almost a year-long legal struggle with Twitter over the ban, Berenson settled with Twitter and was reinstated earlier this particular month. Writing about his reinstatement, he hinted at some thing very ominous: “ The settlement does not end the investigation into the pressures that the government may have placed on Twitter to suspend my account. I will have more to say on that issue in the near future. ”
Elon Musk, who had been in a deal to purchase Twitter until a few days ago, responded to Berenson on Twitter: “ Can you say more about this: ‘ … challenges that the government may have placed on Twitter … ‘”
Berenson replied, “ I wish I could, but the settlement with Twitter stops me from doing so. Nevertheless , in the near future I hope and expect to have more to report. ”
Questions concerning the vaccine were silenced just like were questions about the origins of the virus. Was this possible that the outbreak originated from a Chinese lab that just happened to be funded by the US government? And if therefore , how far would powerful people in the government wish to suppress any discussion or analysis into this possibility?
At a critical period – just as authoritarians had been locking the country down plus threatening anyone who refused the shot – all general public discussion about the matters has been shut down by “ private” companies that just occurred to have very close connections with the US government.
This raises basic questions about the First Amendment that hopefully might be investigated by Congress after the Nov elections. The American individuals deserve to know who is wanting to shut them up… plus why.
