John Mackey, the particular CEO of Whole Meals and a supporter of “ conscious capitalism, ” joined up with the “ Reason Podcast” with Nick Gillespie upon Wednesday to discuss a variety of subjects.

Mackey told Reason he is concerned about the path America is heading because “ socialists are taking over” everything from the education system as well as the corporate world to the military and other government entities.
“ Our concern is that I feel such as socialists are taking over, ” the Whole Foods CEO explained. “ They’re marching with the institutions. They’re taking everything over. “ You know, I’m a capitalist as the primary goal, and I believe in liberty and capitalism, ” he continuing. “ Those are my twin values. Regarding the Whole Foods reaction to the pandemic, Mackey mentioned the lockdowns were “ difficult” and suspected history will look back on them since “ one of the stupidest issues government will have done in the 21st century unless they begin a nuclear war. ”
Gillespie joked that will even in a nuclear war situation, people might still be able to shop freely.

Besides diving into politics and finally progressing to speak his mind openly, Mackey intends on composing a book about the story of Whole Foods, doing a lot more backpacking and co-founding a new business chain with friends.
