A board on CBS’ “ Encounter The Nation” huddled upon Sunday to lament the fact the FBI’s raid upon Mar-a-Lago doesn’t seem to be deterring from President Donald Trump from announcing a 2024 presidential run.
Political reporter Robert Costa broke the news to “ Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan that Trump is still moving forward on a announcing his intent to run again for president.
“ I’m told by people near to him this weekend that will he’s still moving toward an announcement despite all the legal challenges he is dealing with — ” Costa started.
“ So this isn’t damaging? ” Brennan interrupted.
The FBI search associated with Mar-a-Lago and the documents analysis connected to it “ within no way” seem to be removing Trump from a potential 2024 run, @costareports says.

“ Well, we’re not saying decades damaging, this could be extremely harmful. There’s so little visibility into what he put in these types of boxes. Was it a grave national security danger? It could be politically explosive down the road, but we don’t want to get ahead of that in terms of the politics impact. ”
“ But in no way does it seem to be deterring him motionless toward a run, ” he added.
Unfortunately for the legacy press, getting ahead of the facts is precisely what they’ve done in the times following the FBI’s raid.
As The Washington Examiner’s Byron York noted, deficiency of transparency by the Justice Department has fomented an environment associated with wild speculation by eager anti-Trump elements in the media and in Washington.
“ We’re in a classic Trump hair-on-fire frenzy. Without layovers talk about secret evidence, lawbreaker charges, grave damage to nationwide security, wild scenarios. Plus nobody knows what the proof is, or is not. Secrecy allows anti-Trump speculation in order to flourish. Again, ” York tweeted Sunday.

That it is this unhinged speculation that led to the collapse of several narratives in just several days, such as promises that Trump took ” inside info ” nuclear documents , which the search warrant approved by Attorney General Merrick Garland showed was false.
In fact , the FBI’s unprecedented raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound appears to have only further rallied the American people around the former president.
