That’s according to a new survey published on Thursday by consultant PwC, which last month polled more than 700 U. S. executives and board associates from various industries. About half of respondents said they are preparing to reduce headcount — or already have — while 52% have implemented hiring freezes.

In addition, roughly 46% of businesses are either dropping or decreasing signing bonuses, which grew to become commonplace over the past year because businesses tried to lure within new workers amid a progressively more tight labor market. An additional 44% are rescinding offers entirely, the survey demonstrated.

Home goods company Wayfair  decided   to cut approximately 870 workers to assist manage operation costs plus “ realign its investment decision priorities” following the coronavirus outbreak, the Associated Press (AP) reported this week.

In 2020, the company documented a 55 percent sales growth because people were buying home furnishings.
