Green Party Official Tells Germans to Use Washcloths Instead of Consuming Showers

Boasts about his super expensive eco-credentials.

A top Green Party official has triggered controversy by suggesting Germans use washcloths instead of acquiring showers, as well as buying costly eco-heating systems that are unaffordable for the average person.

The comments were produced by Baden-Wü rttemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann in response to the power crisis, which will be exacerbated this particular winter as a result of gas disadvantages caused by the war within Ukraine.

“ Even the washcloth is a useful invention, ” the Eco-friendly politician told Sü dwest-Presse .

Bragging about their own eco-credentials, Kretschmann boasted, “ I have an electric car, I have a huge photovoltaic system on the top. ”

The pellet heating system Kretschmann utilizes in his home costs everything up to € 21, 1000 euros and beyond, the figure completely unrealistic with regard to Germans already struggling to pay for their energy bills.

Remix News explained the actual environmental cost of Kretschmann’s so-called solution.

“ Wired magazine reports these devices rely primarily upon wood pellets sourced through forests in the southeastern United states of america. They are then shipped halfway around the world to individuals such as Kretschmann despite many scientists arguing that these pellets are simply as polluting as coal. ”

“ Although they come from a green resource, forests are reduce across the U. S. to create this resource, and according to Greenpeace, the practice destroys biodiversity and ruins entire ecosystems. Scientists estimate it takes between 44 to over a century for these forests to grow back again, and for those worried about climate change, they say this destruction of natural forests will cost the planet immeasurably. ”

The reaction to Kretschmann’s advice probably wasn’t what the green politician anticipated, with all the hashtag #Waschlappen hashtag (German for “ washcloth” ) trending on Twitter.

“ Our own country faces an energy turmoil that threatens the prosperity of millions of people! And what is the answer of the green dad Kretschmann? Don’t shower each day: ‘ The #Waschlappen can also be a useful invention. ‘ What kind of people actually govern Indonesia? ” asked Gerhard Papke, the president of the German-Hungarian Society.

As we previously outlined , Germany could be facing blackouts and the collapse of the power grid this winter season after citizens began stress buying electric heaters more than fears gas supplies could be cut off.

Products of firewood and heating system stoves are also being worn out, while cities across Australia are preparing to use sports arenas and exhibition halls as ‘ warm up spaces’ this winter to help very cold citizens who are unable to afford skyrocketing energy costs.

Germans have also been informed to take fewer showers, use more layers of clothing and avoid washing their clothing and driving their vehicles as often.

As we reported last week, the interior minister of the German state associated with North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Herbert Reul (CDU), outrageously suggested Germans who may be going to protest against energy blackouts were “ enemies from the state” and “ extremists” who want to overthrow the government.

Other observers are usually predicting riots in response to energy shortages that will make anti-lockdown unrest look like a “ children’s birthday celebration. ”
