Can Italy’s Election Foreshadow ALL OF US Midterms?

The previous excellent minister, former Goldman Sachs banker Mario Draghi, implemented one of the most restrictive – together with inhuman – Covid shutdowns.

Sunday was an historic election time for Italy. A conventional alliance with a populist flair absolutely trounced the technocrats who had been running the country into the ground for the past several years.

The previous leading minister, former Goldman Sachs banker Mario Draghi, applied one of the most restrictive – plus inhuman – Covid shutdowns, which, along with supporting financially suicidal sanctions against Russian federation, have left Italy an economic basket case.

Replacing the bland banker will probably be Giorgia Meloni from the right-wing Sons of Italy party. Meloni will be a first just for Italy: the first female excellent minister. But don’t anticipate the Left to celebrate it: her name cannot be mentioned in the mainstream media without reference to Mussolini.

Ironically, the democratic success of Meloni and the rest of the Italian right likely owes a great deal of gratitude to one associated with Europe’s most undemocratic and anti-democratic leaders: European Union Office Ursula von der Leyen.

On the eve of the Italian elections, the unelected von der Leyen warned Italians that if they voted for the “ wrong” parties they would be punished. Asked about the surge from the political opposition in Italy on the eve of the elections, she warned Italian voters, “ we will see the result of the vote in Italy. In the event that things go in a difficult path — and I’ve spoken about Hungary and Poland — we have the tools. ”

In other words, her message to Italian voters was “ yes you can election, but if you vote in ways I do not approve  associated with, you will be punished. ”

Italians rushed in order to vote in a way she did not approve of. It will be fascinating to see what happens.

How does any of this relate to the United States as the US goes closer to the midterm polls? Americans have also been given alerts by the political elites they dare not vote for that “ wrong” candidates or parties.

On September 1st, President Biden issued a warning just like that of Europe’s von dieser Leyen. In one of the most outrageous speeches in political background, Biden warned that Trump supporters “ … are really determined to take this country backwards — backwards to an The nation where there is no right to select, no right to privacy, not any right to contraception, no right to marry who you love. They promote authoritarian leaders, and so they fan the flames from political violence that are a threat to our personal protection under the law, to the pursuit of justice, into the rule of law, on the very soul of this state. ”

They spoke on a frightening, red-lit stage with US Marines helping as props on possibly side of him. This is no “ Checkers” presentation with Nixon speaking wistfully about his cocker spaniel. No, it was a announcement of war against half the country.

A few weeks ago Sweden threw its left-wing government out and Weekend the Italians did the exact same. While the political differences in The european union seem more cosmetic in comparison with substantive – for example Italy’s presumptive new prime ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) supports weapons to Ukraine just like her predecessor – there is still a strong a sense of popular revolt against political elites in the air.

That doesn’t mean things are going to easily go our method, as there is no automatic libertarian surge. But we must study hard and take advantage of just about every opportunity. People are sick of your elites? That means they are most likely open to the concepts associated with non-interventionism and sound dollars. Let’s help educate them!
