DHS Coordinated Massive Censorship Procedures With Major Big Tech Platforms, Leaked Docs Confirm

DHS kept monthly meetings with Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft, Wikipedia, as well as other platforms to coordinate “content moderation” operations before 2020 election.

The Department associated with Homeland Security, FBI along with other government agencies have been operating closely with numerous Large Tech companies to coordinate widespread censorship operations, leaked internal documents reveal.

According to  Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Safety Agency (CISA) meeting minutes   and other records attached to a lawsuit filed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt (R), the agencies discussed censorship frameworks and tactics which range from the scale and range of government intervention in online discourse to the mechanics of streamlining takedown requests to Big Tech companies for false or deliberately misleading information.

The DHS ramped up their censorship operations leading up to the 2020 election plus amid the COVID pandemic to target “ inaccurate information” on a wide range of topics, which includes “ the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U. H. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U. Ersus. support to Ukraine , ” according to a draft copy of DHS’s Quadrennial Homeland Security Review acquired by The Intercept .

The DHS’s online censorship operation had been prolific and widespread, due to cooperation of Silicon Area.

“ Before the 2020 election, tech companies including Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Discord, Wikipedia, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Verizon Media met on a monthly basis with the FBI, CISA, and other government representatives, ” The Intercept reported. “ According to NBC News, the particular meetings were part of a good initiative, still ongoing,   between the private sector and government   to discuss how firms might handle misinformation during the election. ”

Email messages and documents also revealed Facebook created a portal only accessible to government officials that fast-tracked formal requests to the platform to destroy or label alleged false information.

“ Additionally there is a formalized process for authorities officials to directly banner content on Facebook or even Instagram and request that it end up being throttled or suppressed by way of a special Facebook portal that needs a government or police force email to use. At the time of creating, the ‘ content request system’ at facebook. com/xtakedowns/login is still live. DHS and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, did not respond to a request for comment. The particular FBI declined to comment, ” The Intercept documented.

The most high-profile instance of the government pressuring social media companies to remove info came with the suppression from the Hunter Biden story days before the 2020 election, exactly where Twitter secured the paper’s account and prevented the storyplot from being shared upon its platform.

Likewise, Meta CEO Tag Zuckerberg admitted the FBI approached Facebook warning in regards to the imminent release of the Hunter Biden story.

The Biden administration tried to publicly codify some of these insurance policies earlier this year with the formation of a “ Disinformation Governance Plank, ” which was quickly scrapped amid huge backlash .

Whistleblowers subsequently revealed the Disinformation Governance Board’s genuine purpose was to censor information it didn’t such as.

The Biden regime also released a “ National Technique for Countering Domestic  Terrorism ” directive last June that outlines a “ broader priority: enhancing trust in government and dealing with the extreme polarization, motivated by a crisis of disinformation and misinformation often channeled through social media platforms, which can tear Americans apart plus lead some to violence. ”

But prior to these leaks, it had been unclear exactly how the government particularly worked with Big Tech in order to censor information before the 2020 election and beyond.

These revelations explain the government tried to create a good end-run around the First Amendment by tasking social media platforms to remove information they didn’t like, a constitutional violation.

“ The federal government is not allowed to do indirectly what it is prohibited from doing directly, so if it’s making use of surrogates like Twitter to get a global censorship program, it might run afoul of the Metabolic rate, ” constitutional lawyer Jonathan Turley mentioned .
