HIRISE Spots Martian Crater Build up
The northern flatlands of Arabia Terra upon Mars
This image taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft’s HIRISE instrument on Oct. 23, 2022, of the northern flatlands of Arabia Terra shows craters that contain curious deposits with mysterious forms and distribution.
For instance, the particular deposits are located on the southern sides of the craters, although not usually in the north, and are also found only in craters larger than 600 meters within diameter.
Scientists suspect that these functions formed by sublimation of ice-rich material.
