Siblings Stop to Charge Tesla EV SIX TIMES IN ONE DAY During Cold Click

Brother says ‘battery would drain faster compared to it would charge, ‘ incorporating each charge cost between $25 and $30.

A brother plus sister driving cross-country through Florida to Kansas found out the hard way EV electric batteries and cold weather don’t blend.

According to Business Insider , Xaviar and Alice Steavenson rented a Tesla from Hertz to drive from Orlando to Wichita throughout cold weather last month, simply to discover the “ battery would drain faster than it will charge. ”

Business Insider reports :

Whenever they set off, Steavenson said, they could drive for at least two ½ hours before having to charge the Tesla. “ We ended up having to stop every one to 1 ½ hours to charge for an hour, then an hour and a half, then two hours, ” this individual said.

“ So outside of the lost time, it also got to the point it was between $25 and $30 to recharge, ” Steavenson stated. “ Just in one day, we stopped six situations to charge at that cost. ”

Steavenson mentioned Hertz said on its website that renting the Tesla was “ continually cheaper than gas” but added that he’d discovered the claim to be far from their experience.

He said whenever he and his sister initial called Hertz, the real estate agent told him he’d “ had nothing but Tesla calls today” and had “ no clue why they’re having issues. ”

A Hertz rep denied an influx in Tesla calls, telling Insider :

“ We have not experienced a significant increase in communication from clients about the battery of their EV rentals. However , battery variety varies by vehicle producer and can be influenced by multiple factors including climate and driving conditions. ”

Insider reports: “ Tesla failed to respond to a request for comment. ”

The particular siblings’ EV horror tale comes as Tesla S EV owner and radio web host Domenick Nati discovered his car’s battery pack would not charge during last month’s wintertime storm that impacted major parts of the US.

YouTuber Tyler Hoover last month furthermore showed how the driving range of Ford’s Super EV truck is significantly reduced in cold weather conditions,   essentially getting cut in half in 30-degree temperatures.
