Walgreens and CVS are the first major national pharmacy store chains to say they will sell the abortion pill

The particular drug was previously approved by just a handful of mail-order pharmacies.

Walgreens’ parent company and CVS are the first major national pharmacy chains to express they will sell the illigal baby killing pill under the new guidelines laid out by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The new rules, which were issued Tuesday, allow any kind of pharmacy to become certified to dispense mifepristone, which is the drug that blocks a hormone needed for a pregnancy to successfully take.

The drug is FDA-approved for use up to ten weeks into a pregnancy.

The drug was once approved by just a handful of mail-order pharmacies, and only certified doctors were allowed to prescribe this. It has, however , been FDA-approved since 2000.

On Wednesday, Walgreens – which owns Duane Reade – said it would only sell the drug within states where abortion can be legal.

It did not offer a timetable pertaining to when it would start submitting mifepristone orders.

‘ We intend to be a certified pharmacy under the plan, ‘ a spokesperson for the conglomerate said Wednesday.

‘ We are functioning through the registration, necessary education of our pharmacists, as well as evaluating our pharmacy network in terms of where we normally dispense products that have extra FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION requirements and will dispense these types of consistent with federal and condition laws. ‘

On Wednesday evening, CVS confirmed it will also ‘ seek certification to dispense mifepristone where legally permissible. ‘

Other big national pharmacy store chains like Rite Aid plus Walmart are still reviewing the FDA’s new rules.
