When we first heard that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would make a digital appearance at 80th annual Golden Globe Awards Tuesday night in order to update the particular audience and American general public on the status of the issue, we thought it was a tale.
It should be remembered too how the Oscar Awards rejected initiatives for a Zelensky appearance last year (though he did give an emotional speech at the Grammys last April).
But like with much otherwise connected with Zelensky and the unprecedented pandering of American institutions for a foreign leader, it had been all too absurdly real. He or she told the audience of Hollywood A-listers that “ there will be no third World War” – citing Ukraine’s momentum on the battlefield.
“ The battle in Ukraine is not more than yet, but the tide is turning and it is already very clear who will win, ” Zelensky said after being launched by friend and actor or actress Sean Penn. “ You may still find battles and tears forward. ”
He or she launched into a bit of a history lecture, akin to his December in-person Congressional speech, reminding the television viewing audience how the Golden Globe Awards initial got its start throughout WWII, and compared the existing Russian invasion to “ the struggle for the right of the new generations to know about the war only through movies. ”
That’s when Zelensky sought to assure Americans against can be become a legitimate overarching worry – uncontrollable escalation between your US and Russia:
“ The very first World War claimed a lot of lives. The Second World Battle claimed tens of numerous them. There will be simply no third World War. It is not the trilogy, ” Zelensky said , appealing that Ukraine “ will minimize the Russian aggression” by using the free world.
“ The war in Ukraine is not really over yet, but the tide is turning and it is currently clear who will win… We will make it together with the whole totally free world and I hope that every one of you will be with us on the successful day the day of our victory, ” Zelensky said.
For anybody worried that the world will be inching toward nuclear Armageddon, these words are not trigger for comfort – yet quite the opposite… in fact, it’s 2023 and a foreign head of state just appeared at a Hollywood awards show to tell celebs he’s not expecting Planet War 3 to break away. But Kiev wants to fight growing global skepticism concerning the war’s outcome, in order to keep the Western weapons pipeline moving of course.
He or she also just pledged “ victory” over nuclear equipped super power Russia, and that a Ukrainian “ win” is becoming “ clear” … so let that will sink in.
As for Sean Penn’s intro, it was expectedly filled with standard Hollywood-style moralizing about the “ current thing” causes of the particular moment…
“ In the other worldly courage associated with young Iranians rising up, to the ever-persevering women’s motion of Afghanistan, we are reminded, in no uncertain conditions, that the freedom to desire is not simply a human luxury, but rather a human need that must be fought and sacrificed for, ” Penn stated during the introduction.
As for Zelensky’s ‘ entire world war’ commentary, it doesn’t bode well for this most scary of all potential future situations that the Kremlin just this week said it views the united states and NATO as now direct celebrations to the war. Ruskies Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev described Moscow’s point of view this week, stating , “ The activities in Ukraine aren’t a clash between Moscow and Kiev. It’s a army confrontation of NATO, first of all the US and Britain, with Russia. Fearing a direct engagement, NATO instructors push Ukrainian men to certain dying. ”
At the end of his Golden Globe Honours speech, Zelensky got their now basically routine standing ovation from the audience.
