The US will “ soon” have laws to punish “ illegal hate speech, ” EUROPEAN Commission VP for Values and Transparency Vera Jourova told the World Economic Forum on Tuesday.
“ Unlawful hate speech, which you may have soon also in the U. S. I think that we have a strong reason why we have this within the criminal law, ” Jourova said.
As I reported on Tuesday, Rep. Sheila Knutson Lee (D-TX) presented a bill to the House that would make it a potential “ detest crime” for white people to criticize non-white people and Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) claimed lately that espousing “ hate” is “ not secured under the First Amendment. ”
New York state also passed a bill last year targeted at suppressing “ hateful” presentation online.
