Department of Health and Human Providers is sued after disregarding freedom of information request more than censorship demands
The Cosmetic surgeon General has repeatedly required censorship of “misinformation” on the web.
Activist group Judicial Watch submitted a Freedom of Information Respond (FOIA) lawsuit against the Division of Health and Human Services (HHS) for all records plus communications between the Surgeon General’s office and social media companies about COVID-19 vaccines.
Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit after the HHS refused to sufficiently respond to a FOIA ask for filed in March 2022.

The request had been for: “ All information, including, but not limited to, electronic mail, texts, memoranda, and handwritten notes, of, regarding, referring, or relating to any efforts of Alexandria Phillips, Marketing communications Director, Office of the Doctor General, to contact any employee of Facebook , Twitter, TikTok, Instagram , Snapchat, Reddit, YouTube , LinkedIn, Tumblr, and Pinterest concerning COVID-19 vaccines. ”
Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has previously called for censorship of Covid false information . In 2021, he or she published a report titled “ Confronting Health Misinformation , ” which directed to “ slow the spread of health false information during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. ”
The report encouraged systems to censor vaccine false information and other misinformation related to the particular pandemic.

In March 2022, Murthy ordered social media systems to hand over information about accounts spreading Covid misinformation.
Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said, “ Biden’s Surgeon General is abusing his office in order to pressure Big Tech companies to censor Americans. This particular lawsuit aims to uncover the important points of this government attack over the First Amendment. ”
