Putin: West Discussing ‘Arms Deliveries’ While China Trying To Broker ‘Peace’
NATO and the U.S. also “intentionally” attempted to “derail” his meeting with Xi, Russian president claims.
Russian President Vladimir Putin compared the West and China’s approaches to the Ukraine conflict, claiming the U.S. and Europe are trying to keep the war going while China is stepping up to broker peace.
“You can compare the approaches. [Western countries] have aggressive rhetoric. They talk about arms deliveries, while China is talking about the peace settlement on the other side,” Putin told reporters Saturday.

Putin said that Chinese dictator Xi Jinping placed particular emphasis on discussing a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine during visit to Moscow this week.
“The Chinese president paid quite a lot of attention on the matter of the positive aspects of China’s peace settlement proposal on Ukraine…he tried to persuade me that the Chinese settlement plan by peaceful means has a lot of positive messages,” he said.
By contrast, NATO and the U.S. “intentionally” attempted to “derail” his meeting with Xi by making hawkish statements about ramping up arms to Ukraine, Putin said.
“We learned about, the same day, the delivery of one billion shells by the Western countries to Ukraine,” he said. “And right before we met the press, we learned about the statement by the UK to deliver depleted uranium shells sent to Ukraine, as if they were doing this intentionally in order to derail our talks, or to influence our talks in any way.”
“So there is this impression that they were doing this intentionally, with an agenda on their mind,” he added.
Speaking of sabotage, Putin also said he “completely agrees” with Seymour Hersh’s reporting that the Biden administration and NATO blew up the Nord Stream pipelines.
This comes after Biden officials like Secretary of State Antony Blinken rejected calls by China for peace talks over Ukraine during Xi’s Moscow visit.
Xi’s visit with Putin in Moscow this week further solidified their alliance against the West, with Xi telling the Russian president that they are driving geopolitical “change that hasn’t happened in 100 years.”

But Joe Biden downplayed China and Russia’s deepening alliance on Friday, calling it “vastly exaggerated.”
“We’re the ones expanding the alliances. The opposition is not,” he claimed.
