Anheuser-Busch CEO Responds to Dylan Mulvaney Backlash After Company Loses $5 Billion
“We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer,” says Brendan Whitworth.
The CEO of beer giant Anheuser-Busch released a statement on Friday responding to the uproar over transgender Dylvan Mulvaney’s sponsorship of Bud Light, which sent the company’s value plummeting by $5 billion.
Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO Brendan Whitworth insisted that he’s responsible for ensuring “every consumer feels proud of the beer we brew.”
“We have thousands of partners, millions of fans and a proud history supporting our communities, military, first responders, sports fans and hard-working Americans everywhere,” he said. “We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.”

Whitworth then promised he would continue “building and protecting our remarkable history and heritage.”
“I spend much of my time traveling across America, listening to and learning from our customers, distributors and others,” he wrote. “Moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to bring great beers to consumers across our nation.”
The company announced a branding partnership with Mulvaney on March 31, resulting in massive blowback from consumers, particularly Kid Rock, who blasted a case of Bud Light with an AR-15.
Since then, Anheuser-Busch lost approximately $5 billion in market capitalization.
But the mainstream media has been running cover for Mulvaney and the beer brand, claiming the partnership was actually great for business.
If you’re an Anheuser-Busch shareholder, you’re probably not breathing a sigh of relief after Whitworth’s remarks.
